Lykke & Osvaldo's wedding in Denmark, October 1996

Thanks to everybody for their gifts and attention at our wedding on the 19th of October 1996. Also thanks to all the friends that helped make the wedding preparations such a nice experience. Especially thanks to Lissy who made the wedding dress (and Per who took good care of Osvaldo meanwhile), to the Lindholt family who supplied the corresponding high hat, to Lars Peter who was Osvaldo's best man, to Alice and Michael who spent most of their fall vacation in Ry to make food for the party, to Gurli and Frede for lending us their summer house by Mossoe for the wedding night and our honeymoon, and to Hanne Winterberg and Ry City Council for marrying us and making the City Hall available for us Saturday night. Last but not least, thanks to my parents for organizing and funding the whole event, and thanks for the excellent wedding speech.

Below you will find a few pictures from the wedding at Ry City Hall and from the party at my parents house afterwards.

Aunt Lissy who created the wedding dress is preparing the bride in the office of the city manager, while the nervous groom is waiting next door in the city hall. The dress is made of pure Thai silk with 108 silk-covered buttons and an unknown number of tiny pearls down the back and down the sleeves. The beautiful high hat is a wedding gift from the resourceful Lindholt family.

The wedding ceremony was conducted by Hanne Winterberg, member of the city council and a long time friend of the family. It was held in both English and Danish and both the groom and the bride answered "Ja" without hesitation or doubt. Here the groom is putting the ring on the happy bride's finger. Male friends and family had joined to form a men's choir which performed both before and after the actual ceremony.
The compulsory wedding waltz was carried out perfectly, despite the lack of practicing, which had worried the bride. She married a very good dancer.
The Danish tradition of cutting of the end of the socks took the groom by complete surprise, however. His horrified look reported by guests is not really clear from this picture, though.
The hit of the evening, especially for the younger girls, was clearly the Macarena dance. This version was imported from the night life in Rio de Janeiro.

Then the amateur pictures from the party had been developed, we decided that we had better visit a professional photographer. The result was a lot of nice pictures, but they didn't really capture the happiness of the real wedding day.
